    FAQ

    Connectivity:

    1. Q: I have been able to download Mxit, but after registering/logging in,Mxit just gets up to "Opening" and then I receive the following error message "003 - Mxit Login / Registration failed: This could be because the Mxit service is unavailable or GPRS service is not set up and available. Go to http://forum.Mxit.co.za or http://http://m.Mxit.com from your mobile for more help. ". How can I solve this problem?

      A: Try the following:

      1. From your phone's standby screen select "Menu"
      2. Select "Tools"
      3. Select "Settings"
      4. Select "Connection settings"
      5. Change the "Access Point" to your service provider's settings

Just in case you need the settings:

        • Connection name: Mxit
        • Data Bearer: GSM
        • Access Point name:

If you're on Vodacom change the Access point to: internet
If you're on MTN change the Access point to: myMTN
If you're on Cell C change the Access point to: internet
If you're on Virgin Mobile change the Access point to: vdata

    2. Q: As soon as I open Mxit, it goes straight to "Reconnecting". My GPRS settings are correct. Mxit was working; I had no problems whatsoever. What can the problem be?
      A: Please do the following:

      1. Download the "Trusted" version of Mxit for your phone from our WAP site.
      2. Go to your phone's applications menu
      3. Scroll down to Mxit (don't open it)
      4. Select "Options" - "Permissions" (or a similar option)
      5. Change the "Network Access" permission setting to "Never ask" or "Always allow" (or a similar setting)

    3. Q: While on Mxit I have some stability problems, I get disconnected every 5 minutes, why is this?

A: The connection stability problems which you are experiencing may be caused by a problem which many other users of 3G phones experience - an unstable data connection due to the occasional change between a 3G and a 2G data connection.

You should be able to solve this problem by forcing your phone to always make 2G data connections. Do the following to disable your phone's 3G:

Please try disabling the 3G on your phone.

      1. Go to "Menu" - "Tools" - "Settings" - "(Phone)" - "Network" - "Network mode"
      2. Select "GSM" ("GSM only")

    Downloading:

    4. Q: When downloading Mxit I get one of the following error messages: "Invalid Jar file" or "Error on packet connection". How can I download Mxit?

A: Try to start your phone's GPRS settings from scratch, please try the following:

      1. Please delete all the GPRS settings from your phone.
      2. Goto the following Nokia site to get fresh GPRS settings, Nokia phone configurator and click on the "Download standard settings" link.
After you have received the settings from Nokia make sure that those settings are set as your phone's dafault GPRS settings.

    5. Q: When I want to download Mxit I get a "Certificate error, contact the application supplier" error message. How can I download Mxit?

A: You might be able to work around this problem by doing the following:

      1. On your phone, go to "Menu" - "Settings" - "Data mgr. " - "App. mgr"
      2. Select "Options" - "Settings"
      3. Select "Software installation"
      4. Select "All"
      5. Open your phone's default wap browser
      6. Clear the browser's cache.
      7. Return to your phone's standby screen
      8. Turn your phone off.
      9. Remove your phone's battery from your phone
      10. After about a minute, put your phone's battery back into your phone

      9. Press "OK"

OR THIS MIGHT BE THE FOLLOWING ON YOUR PHONE:

        1. On your phone, go to "Menu" -"Clock" - "Options"
        2. Press your phone's right directional key (>) to access the world clock view.
        3. Select "Options" - "My home city"
        4. Select your city (if you city doesn't appear there, select a nearby city or select "Pretoria" if you are in South Africa)

Once you have done the above, your phone's time might be adjusted by a few hours. If so, just adjust your phone's time to the correct time in your area.
