6. Q: Every time I go to a different contact and write a message I have to change the text input mode to T9 (dictionary). When I want to write a message to a different contact I have to do it all over again. Why do I have to choose T9 (dictionary) every time I want to write a message? A: A bug in your phone's firmware might cause this problem. The screen where you type a message and the dictionary are all controlled by your phone and not Mxit. You can try a firmware upgrade, but it is not guaranteed to solve the problem though. You can also give Samsung's customer care a call and ask them if there is a firmware upgrade available for you phone and if this bug has been resolved. 7. Q: After I have downloaded Mxit and run it for the first time I get the following error message: "Your Mxit client could not be validated". How can I fix this? A: Delete Mxit off your phone and follow the steps in the first post of this thread on how to set up Mxit on your phone. 8. Q: Why don't I hear any sounds in Mxit? A: Please try the following to enable sounds in Mxit:
- In Mxit, go to "Menu"
- Select "Settings"
- Select "Alert profiles"
- Select the applicable alert which you would like to change and set the sound alert of your choice.
9. Q: Is it possible to access my phone book when adding contacts in Mxit? A: You should be able to do that. Try this:
- In Mxit, go to "Menu" - "Contacts" - "Add contact"
- Select "Mxit"
- Edit the "Phone number" field
- While at the screen where you can type in the phone number, look for a "Look up" (or similar) option (the option may be in a sub menu - i.e. in "Options" - "Look up").
10. Q: When I run Mxit I get a screen with the following:
Mxit will send personal data. This will require the use of airtime for which you may be charged. Continue?
- Yes, always. Don't ask again
- Do not allow this time
Should my phone give this message and what should I choose? A: Yes. Your phone should give you this message. That is a standard message which your phone displays (i.e. not a Mxit message) when any application tries to access the internet. It's just to allow you to have full control over what an application does on your phone. Just select "Yes, always. Don't ask again" when logging into Mxit, and you'll be able to log in. 11. Q: Why can't I set my predictive text as default in Mxit? A: Samsung phones do support predictive text in Java applications. Unfortunately predictive text cannot be set as the default input mode.
