I noticed that in v5.7(.2) the text input is not recognized .

for example if I go to info n when the menu loads there are all those options there.. if I want to choose option for example ..option 2... & I type in "2" n send it... it doesn't work! it just reloads the same menu...
this also happens when i type "b" to go to the previous menu...etc
however... it does work by using the selectable links..
So using the menus isnt that much of a prob..
but where it does start to become a prob is when u need to enter your own input
eg: entering a name for a new folder in the gallery

if u have a HTC , check to see if this also happens to you.

I assume this is with the inline edit? Do you perhaps use colour text? In Mxit go to MENU - SETTINGS - APPEARANCE - MESSAGE COLOUR and select the DEFAULT colour. Please post some feedback.
