Greetings
This thread is for those users of i-mates and HTC's who want to update their phone software to the latest available. Just follow these easy steps and you'll have the latest software in a jiffy ;-)
These instructions are for all i-mates and HTC's.
This tutorial was done on a computer running Windows XP using a HTC X7500. Screenshots have been included where possible.
- Step 1
Download and install ActiveSync from Microsoft. This is essential for your PC and Windows Mobile Device to communicate. This can be downloaded here. If you are running Windows Vista, you have no need for this as Windows Mobile Device Centre does the same function.
- Step 2
Set up a partnership and backup all essential data to your PC. This is essential as when you update your software, all the data on your device itself will be lost. Anything on memory cards, or if your device has a secondary hard drive(like the HTC X7500) is safe.
- Step 3
Download the latest software available for HTC's. This can be done from here.
The software for i-mates is available here.
- Step 4
You will come to this screen. Just follow the on-screen instructions as they appear.
