hey mxit team, i have been using mxit for 3 years now and the forum for 1 year, but this is my 1st post. Anyways....I have read in many places about how motorola phones have issues with java apps' permissions. My brother has had a RAZR V3x for about 4 yrs and when mxit first introduced the camera feature he remembers it working fine, but not anymore, he cnt remember on what version it last worked. have the mxit team only recently stopped signing the jar file or what?

    Greetings,

If your brothers camera used to work it still should.

Please goto menu, help, about. There it will tell you the phones capabilities. Please post them here if they seem wrong.

He may need to download the signed (Trusted) version of MXit

Goto m.mxit.com on the phones browser, when on the download page, look for the link
that says "If installation fails, click here" That is the trusted version of MXit.

Once downloaded he must go set the permissions for MXit.

If he still has no access to his camera try MXit 5.8.2 it was probably that one that he remembers.

    Regards

I suggested those two exact things to him yesturday, because after reading on google about motorolas trust issues i remembered how it used to let you select between normal and trusted. So i tested with my n81 bcuz it shows if it has been signed. I got excited when i saw that 'if install failed....' was signed but download now isnt. So i tried the signed 1 on his but it sais authentication failed as soon as i click. Same with 5.8.2 . In about it says no by file access camera and voice record, but he has sent me voice recordings b4.

    Greetings,

You will have to try the untrusted version of either 5.8 or earlier. But normally if the function was there it stays there.

It's not MXit who decides what the phone can and can not do.

These instruction sets are built into the phone by the manufacturer.

However I will ask development tomorrow if they know of this issue.

    Regards

Thanks alot for all your help,Cleftangels.

I tested and found out that 5.7.2 had file access working. 5.6.3 had trusted working. and voice record, camera and file access all work fine, but it is kinda pointless using 5.6.3 because it doesnt have the new features such as avatars, status and farewell messages and the clock.

I hope you could also suggest to the dev_team to swap the trusted and normal links for all phones. Shouldnt a file with no certificates only be used as a last resort or is there a reason for it being the primary download?

    Kind Regards,
    Aodhan

    Greetings,

Great to hear that you found the correct version, but what a pity it's such an old one.

Yes by all means I'll pass that suggestion onto the wap site webmaster

    Greetings.

The Motorola A45 does support Java, and because of that, should support MXit. You should be able to download the latest version of MXit without any problems. However, if there are any, please feel free to repost the issue or PM any of us in the MXit_Support Team.

    Regards. :-)

    Greetings,

You can try download any of the MXit versions for the motorola A**** series. They all have the same screen resolution.

    Regards

    Greetings.

Plain and simple - It is compatible with MXit, but has it's own specific android version. :-)

    Happy MXiting.
    Regards.

Just thought i'd give you some feedback. The Motorola A series mxit doesnt work on it. Although i used the Motorola V8 version and it works okay on it. Would like to see a proper version for the Motorola A45 tho.

Thanks for the speedy replies and the great work.
