I have been trying to install MXit on my Sony Ericsson w810i and k770i using Vodafone UK.

I cant seem to get past the 'Select a language' page when trying to install the latest version v5.4.1 on either phone.

On my k770i I have downloaded an older version of MXit, v5.3, but cant login.

Is it the phones, or is it Vodafone UK?

Please do the following:
1. Open your phone's default WAP browser (not Opera Mini or anything similar).
2. Clear the browser's cache.
3. Return to your phone's standby screen
4. Turn your phone off.
5. Remove your phone's battery from your phone
6. After about a minute, put your phone's battery back into your phone
7. Turn your phone on.
8. Open your phone's default WAP browser
9. Go to http://m.mxit.com
10. Download the version of MXit for your phone

If you still can't get past the language selection screen, please describe what happens after you press "Accept" on the language selection screen. If any error messages appear, please include them in your description.

Please do the following:
1. Go to “Menu” " “Settings” " “Connectivity” " “Settings for Java” " “Internet Profiles” on your phone
2. Select the correct internet profile for use on your network

Then try logging into MXit again.

If you still have problems logging in, please let us know which error message you get when trying to log in. Also, please let us know if you are a contract or a Pay as you talk Vodafone subscriber.

Hi, I have a Sony Ericsson K770i, on Vodafone UK.

I followed some instructions on this forum for Vodafone UK where you set up a profile called Voda Internet, now it gets to the point where it shows Installing (1/2)... it tried installing for a few minutes and then I get an error code: 10100.12095

I think it's best if you try the GPRS internet settings available from Sony Ericsson. Please go to the following site and order the required settings for your phone: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/products/wap/k770i?cc=gb&lc=en

Once you have received the settings, set them as your phone's default for java applications:
1. Go to “Menu” " “Settings” " “Connectivity” " “Settings for Java” " “Internet Profiles” on your phone.
2. Select the GPRS internet profile which you just received from Sony Ericsson

Then try logging into MXit again

Try to delete all the GPRS settings from your phone, then follow the steps in Phil's post to get fresh GPRS settings and to set up your phone: http://forum.mxit.co.za/viewtopic.php?p=362297#362297

I am having a very similar problem to Mungabarry. I have a Samsung G600 on a Vodaphone contract and can't seem to get past the language select screen prior to the installation. I have followed the above steps with no luck.

Once you click 'Accept' the page seems to just refresh. The browser("Netfront Browser v3.4" Access Powered) which is the default, and only browser on my phone, indicates that it is loading but never gets past the actual language page.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT:

I finally managed to get past the language screen after many retries. Once I had downloaded the software and launched it began the installation. While it was still on 1 of 2 parts I got the following error message:

"MXit installation failed. It might be that your GPRS settings are not correct or need to download MXit again from http://m.mxit.com. (Error code: 10101.0)"

I am pretty sure that my GPRS settings are correct as I have just added them from the Samsung website. Any other ideas or suggestions?

I will continue to try and download it again but unfortunately I am back to square one on the language screen... :(

Martin, I had similar problems to you. In your internet settings, go to proxy settings, set ‘use proxy’ to ‘no’. All the settings I got from the Sony Ericsson site and Vodafone site had proxy addresses. As soon as I switched the proxy off it installed and logged in with no problems. This solution worked on both Sony Ericsson’s I was trying to install MXit on.

On your phone select the "Register" option and not the "Login" option, or you can also use our official MXit PC client to register on MXit. Goto http://www.mxit.com/mxitpc to download the PC client.
