Setting up your GPRS/3G for Cell C

Get connected via your service provider's service menu; just follow the simple instructions below:

With the introduction of our new device management service we have discontinued the SMS 0841559911 for "settings" service:

    Automatic device detection:

Cell C now automatically provisioning and sends settings to new devices added to our network. Whenever a customer connects to our network for the first time or changes their cellphone, Cell C will automatically detect this occurrence, send the customer the GPRS and MMS settings for their cellphone and provision them for GPRS and MMS.

Customers do not need to do anything but save the received settings and then switch off their cellphone and turn it on again after a few seconds.

    Manual settings and provisioning request:

Complimenting the above we have also added a manual request feature. Customers can now request settings for their cell phone at any time by simply dialing *147# (star147hash). This service performs the following actions:
    • confirms the settings request
    • delivers the required GPRS settings
    • delivers the required MMS settings
    • provisions the customer for both GPRS and MMS on our network
After requesting the settings all customers have to do is to save the settings they receive and then switch off their cellphone and turn it on again after a few seconds.

Cell C's device manager service supports most cellphones and new cellphones are continually being added. Where a cellphone is not supported, the requesting customer will receive an SMS message detailing this and will be directed to Cell C's call centre (140).

Should a system error occur during the provisioning process, the requesting customer will receive an SMS message informing them of the problem and requesting that they contact the Cell C's call centre (140).

Please post any queries or complaints or observations in this thread regarding Cell C.

    Regards,
    MXit_Team

Is this just happening in the evenings or can you not log in at all?

What area are you in and is this only on Mxit or other web sites as well?

    Greetings,

I see your phone has GPRS and EDGE. You need to have a look in the phone settings to see if there is an option to turn off EDGE. Some phones do provide this setting.

EDGE like 3G is very unstable in South Africa and can completely ruin your Mxit experience.

    Regards

    Clefty

Firstly, this forum is wasted, where do I post queries? I cant find it.

Secondly, is there a way to get a Mxit pin without the sms? Someone got one of my friends' pin and deleted all his contacts except 1. That 1 that isnt deleted hates my friend and we believe it to be her. Is there anyway to find out who downloaded the Mxit if I supply the Mxit number or can you find out how they got the pin?

My Friend has a cell c number and Mxit

As far as I know of, no Mxit cant give out such information, due to the fact that they will be interrupting user privacy, and a user can't get a password without the sim card registered with, meaning, he/she must have given the password out to somebody.

Ps. this is not to harm you in any way, it is just what could have happened
    Regards
    Malietjie

Please try go into games or application where Mxit is stored. Then go menu and file the permissions option. Make sure all of these permissions are set to yes. Then turn off your phone and try again.
